Real-Time Noise Monitoring Station

An all-in-one environmental noise monitoring unit based on patented MEMS microphone technology;

Under Italian legislation, a Noise Climate Assessment (“Valutazione di Clima Acustico”) is required in connection with the development of certain public and private buildings and noise-sensitive developments (Italian Law No. 447/1995, Lazio Regional Law No. 18/2001, Ministerial Decree of 13 March 1998 and Prime Ministerial Decree of 14 November 1997).

A predictive noise climate assessment is required for areas intended for the following types of development:

  • schools and nurseries;
  • hospitals;
  • healthcare and residential care facilities;
  • urban and suburban public parks;
  • new residential developments located close to the infrastructure referred to in paragraph 2.

An acoustic climate assessment means an analysis of the usual sound conditions and of the maximum permissible levels in a given area.

The purpose of the assessment is to ensure that a site intended for a noise-sensitive development is not affected by existing or permitted noise levels that are incompatible with its intended use.

The assessment area includes all relevant noise sources capable of producing a significant acoustic impact on the development under consideration. Its extent is determined on a project-specific basis using precautionary assumptions, which are clearly documented as part of the assessment.
