Real-Time Noise Monitoring Station

An all-in-one environmental noise monitoring unit based on patented MEMS microphone technology;

According to the law, an Acoustic Climate Assessment is required (Law 447/95, Lazio Regional Law No. 18/2001, Ministerial Decree 13/03/98, D.P.C.M. 14/11/1997) before the construction of public and private buildings. It is mandatory to prepare a predictive acoustic climate assessment for the areas concerned by the following types of developments:

  • schools and nurseries;
  • hospitals;
  • nursing homes and retirement facilities;
  • urban and suburban public parks;
  • new residential developments close to the works referred to in paragraph 2.

An acoustic climate assessment means an analysis of the usual sound conditions and of the maximum permissible levels in a given area.

The objective is to ensure that the site intended for a noise-sensitive development is not characterised by existing noise conditions, or permissible noise levels, that are incompatible with the intended use of the development itself.

The reconnaissance area is the portion of territory within which the noise sources producing non-negligible acoustic effects on the development subject to the acoustic climate assessment are located. The extent of the reconnaissance area is determined empirically, on the basis of precautionary assumptions set out in the documentation submitted.
