In the case of already established activities or potentially operating noise sources, sound level measurements — carried out in compliance with the provisions of the Ministerial Decree of 16 March 1998 — may be performed as follows:

- location, time and date of the measurement;
- description of the meteorological conditions,
- description of the measurement site;
- measurement duration and reference period (daytime or nighttime);
- land use classification of the location where the measurement is carried out;
- instrumentation used, its precision class and date of last calibration;
- time trends of sound levels and of the equivalent continuous sound pressure level (LAeq);
- frequency spectrum diagrams of the minimum linear levels for each measurement;
- verification of the presence of any impulsive or tonal components, or partial-time noise;
- final assessment and conclusions.
